Good afternoon everyone:
Many of you may or may not be aware that in addition to my role with the Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus (PLBC), I also serve as the Pennsylvania NAACP State Conference’s Political Action Chairman as well as the National NAACP’s State Civic Engagement Coordinator for the Pennsylvania.
That being said, I would like to take this opportunity to communicate to everyone that I am both completely open and interested in engaging your respective communities for the purpose of “getting out the vote (GOTV).” This engagement would encompass me meeting with and establishing dialogue with any and all community-based organizations, academic institutions, and faith-based organizations within your respective communities.
To be clear, the scope of my duties do not include instructing Pennsylvanians as to who they should vote for during the upcoming general election. Conversely, my primary duty is to further educate voter-aged Pennsylvanians about who is eligible to vote, the electoral process itself, and the overall importance of why we should exercise our constitutionally-conferred right to vote.
Lastly, I would also like to utilize this opportunity to solicit the volunteer assistance of those who recognize the importance of getting the vote out in Pennsylvania. Specifically, I will need assistance with phone banking (you can use your own phone), canvassing, and maximizing the utilization of your various social media platforms.
Thank you for your consideration of this correspondence and I anxiously look forward to everyone’s help in ensuring that the political voice of Pennsylvania’s African-American/minority community is heard loud and clear this election cycle. I ask that you please share this information with community/professional networks.
